Alvin Kamara may be 29 years old this season, but after three games, he's looking like he rolled the clock back four or five years. Kamara is currently fourth in the NFL in rushing yardage and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry, which would be his highest mark since 2020.

The Saints offense as a whole has been completely transformed and revamped with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak calling the shots. Every key offensive piece in New Orleans is having a strong start to the year. However, it's been Kamara as the offensive focal point for Kubiak. He is averaging over 20 touches per game and has been highly productive with them.

Kubiak may have to adjust his offensive approach in Week 4. Kamara may not be able to play this week as he's dealing with hip and rib injuries.

Will Alvin Kamara play this week? Injury update on Saints' RB

Kamara didn't suffer a noticeable injury in Week 3 so it was a bit of a shock to see him listed as a DNP on Wednesday's practice report. He followed it up with limited participation on both Thursday and Friday, leading to a "questionable" tag for Sunday's game.

To this point, there has been no official announcement regarding Kamara's availability for the Saints' matchup against the Falcons. However, this seems to be a situation where a team is being cautious with a veteran and is not looking to push him, especially early in the week.

Two limited practices to close the week are both strong signs that Kamara will be able to suit up this week. It would come as a shock to see him ruled out.

Saints' RB Depth Chart: Who is Alvin Kamara's Backup?

If Kamara is unable to play, New Orleans will turn to another established veteran to handle the backfield work in Week 4. Jamaal Williams is the Saints' backup running back and would see a steady dose of carries in Kamara's absence. Williams isn't a flashy talent, but he is reliable and the type of player that a coach can depend on.

Don't be surprised if Taysom Hill mixes into the backfield as well. He would likely see some carries in between the twenties on top of his typical usage that revolves around special red zone packages.

Alvin Kamara fantasy outlook Week 4

There isn't much to say about Kamara's fantasy outlook this week. If he plays, he is a must-start in all leagues, regardless of size and format.

Few running backs see over 20 touches per game and average over 20 fantasy points per game. Kamara is hitting both of those marks this season. In fact, he is the RB2 on the back of 27.2 PPG. He's setting up to be one of fantasy's best draft picks this year and will be a mainstay in lineups all year.
