Colorado-UCF weather updates: Buffaloes, Knights delayed by lightning in Florida

Even with the path of Hurricane Helene well past Florida, Colorado and UCF found their game impacted by severe weather Saturday afternoon.

The Buffs made their way to Orlando one day early, arriving Wednesday in an attempt to avoid the storm that made landfall in Florida the next day. As of Thursday, the forecast for Saturday's game predicted Helene would have already passed the city, but not without the chance of inclement weather.

Indeed, the hurricane's remnants did affect kickoff from FBC Mortgage Stadium. This is especially pertinent to head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado, as they also dealt with heavy rain in the fourth quarter of last week's game against Baylor.

Before that game, a 38-31 overtime win for the Buffs, Sanders admitted his team had not prepared ahead of time for the downpour.

“I’m one of those good weathermen... 30% (chance of rain) is 70% (chance) it won’t. Let's do drills that say, ‘It won’t rain,'” Sanders said.

With the major weather event that departed Orlando late this week, though, the coach almost certainly had to change his tune in training his players for Saturday's contest. Here's everything to know about the Colorado vs. UCF weather delay.
