Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas went on the Baseball isn’t Boring podcast and confirmed that he has not received another extension offer since spring training.

Casas turned down the previous one, claiming he was worth more. He also claims he understands why he has not been offered one.

"I didn’t have a year this year. I didn’t put up any numbers that would merit an extension like that… I think if I was a front office representative I would need to see more out of myself, for sure. I’m not expecting any offer that would pique my interest. I haven’t earned it and I don’t think it’s going to come in the near future or any time soon.”

In 2024, Casas only played 62 games, and had averages of .240/.339/.466/.805, with 13 homers. Him being injured for half the season definitely hurt his worth and made the Sox FO ponder extending him.

However, if he shows his talent next season while staying healthy for all of it, the Sox will definitely extend him an offer he should not refuse.
