Bears shockingly almost signed future Hall of Famer Tom Brady

The Chicago Bears are set at quarterback for the foreseeable future.

Chicago selected young phenom Caleb Williams and currently are 2-2 on the young season after taking down the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Williams is young, so things haven't gone perfectly so far in the young season, but he has shown flashes and will help take the Bears to another level in the not-so-distant future.

There was a time when the Bears almost landed a different quarterback, though. Future Hall of Famer Tom Brady currently is a broadcaster and was on the call for Sunday's Week 4 clash between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Brady made a very interesting comment throughout the broadcast. There was a time when it seemed like he would spend his entire career with the New England Patriots, but things changed, and he signed with the Buccaneers ahead of the 2021 season and won a Super Bowl. He ended up with the Buccaneers, but he also said that there was a time when he considered the Bears.

"There were a lot of reasons to choose Tampa," Brady said. "I made about 18 criteria why, and there were things all the way from salary obviously to the weather to the facilities to how great the players were. Chicago was a team, and I never told that story before that they were very stealthy in their recruitment. I was seriously considering them."

If Brady had landed in Chicago, it would've completely changed the trajectory of the organization. There's no way to know if the Bears would've won a Super Bowl as the Buccaneers did, but the team certainly wouldn't be in the situation now. The Bears are in a great spot and are built for the future, but it is interesting to wonder what the organization could've looked like with Brady under center.
