Red Sox beat Rays 3-1 to finish season with .500 record

The Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1, and end their season with a .500 record: 81-81. Rookie Quinn Priester got the win for the Sox, and pitched a good game.

As the fans wanted, Priester got called up to pitch in the final game of the season . He went five innings, and only gave up one run and got two strikeouts. The relievers then came in and gave up no runs as well.

As for the offense, it worked adequately. Vaughn Grissom doubled to score Jaren Duran for the first run, and advanced to third due to an error by the Rays’ outfield. Triston Casas made it on a fielder’s choice, scoring Grissom for the second run. Finally, Connor Wong reached on another fielder’s choice, where Grissom was able to score again for the third run.

With the final game of the season over for the Sox, the offseason begins. Hopefully, they will make some big changes to make themselves a playoff team for next season. According to Sox CBO Craig Breslow and manager Alex Cora , that might just be the case.
