Former Red Sox CBO Chaim Bloom lands long-term contract to lead NL team

The Boston Red Sox fired chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom just over a year ago after bringing the team to a 267-262 record during his tenure and before replacing him with Craig Breslow.

After the front office shakeup, Bloom joined the St. Louis Cardinals as an advisor to their president of baseball operations John Mozeliak. Throughout the 2024 season, Bloom audited the organization's minor-league operations, and he was recently given the go-ahead to make changes in the system.

Now, it looks like Bloom will officially have a title change in the near future, as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold reported that Mozeliak will step away at the end of the 2025 season, and Bloom will take over from there. Goold also added that Bloom has signed a five-year contract with St. Louis.

Bloom will have another opportunity to lead one of the most respected organizations in baseball, and if they give the time to build things there, he could set up the future in St. Louis for success just as he did in Boston (despite not being around long enough to see it).
