Packers playmaker surprisingly called player who could be traded

The Green Bay Packers currently are 2-2 on the young season after a Week 4 loss against the shocking Minnesota Vikings.

Minnesota has been fantastic so far this season and remained undefeated on Sunday by beating the Packers 31-29. The Vikings are in first place in the NFC North, and the Packers currently are in last with their 2-2 record.

There is a lot to like about the team, though. Green Bay lost Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles but won the next two games despite Jordan Love being sidelined. Love returned in Week 4, and although the Packers lost, he looked good. He unfortunately had three interceptions but also 389 passing yards and four touchdowns.

Green Bay is a team that should be able to make some noise this season and likely will be busy over the next month. The 2024 National Football League trade deadline will pass on Nov. 5, and the Packers likely will be active. If the Packers can rack up a few wins ahead of it, it wouldn't be shocking to see the team make a move. Anything could happen.

FanSided's Nick Villano put together a list of trade candidates for each franchise and mentioned Packers playmaker Christian Watson as a surprise player who could be moved.

"The Green Bay Packers have a lot of above-average wide receivers," Villano said. "We think they could be really good, but they keep taking each other’s thunder. Just this past week, Jayden Reed had 139 yards and a touchdown. The week before, he had 50 yards. The week before, he had nine yards. This is going to keep happening as the Packers figure out this offense.

"Meanwhile, there’s Christian Watson. The speedster receiver has shown flashes of greatness. Unfortunately, it’s immediately followed by injury. Almost every single time, Watson has a big game and is on the shelf the next week. Often, he’s on the shelf for weeks. He’s on the shelf as we speak. It’s kind of crazy. So why would the Packers trade Watson when he’s not having a great season, and he’s below the value of the second-round pick they used on him? For one, it just opens up things for the offense. They don’t have to change the gameplan constantly for this large subset of wide receivers."

Green Bay likely wouldn't just give Watson away. He could be a valuable trade piece to bring back a player of need if the Packers decided to go in that direction. This is just speculation, but he will be an interesting player to watch for.
