Bears could surprisingly trade Pro-Bowl receiver to Chiefs, says insider

Could the Chicago Bears be trading their most experienced wide receiver to the Kansas City Chiefs in the coming weeks?

NFL Network’s insider Peter Schrager seems to think so. Recognizing that Kansas City has now lost both Rasheen Rice and Hollywood Brown to season-ending injuries, Schrager asserted on Monday that Chiefs general manager Brett Veach will be looking to acquire a valuable wideout via trade.

Schrager revealed four receivers he believes Kansas City could inquire about as Veach looks to replenish weaponry for Patrick Mahomes.

One of the players on Schrager’s list was Chicago Bears wideout Keenan Allen, whom the Bears signed in March to a one-year deal.

Allen hasn’t had a stellar year with Chicago thus far. A heel injury has taken him out of the lineup for two of the Bears’ four games, and he hasn’t yet developed chemistry with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Allen caught three passes for 19 yards in Chicago’s victory on Sunday over the Los Angeles Rams.

Allen, 32, would more than likely welcome a trade to the defending champion Chiefs. The Bears could be open to trading him if they are happy with the return offered by Kansas City, especially since Allen will be a free agent after the season.

Rather than see Allen walk in free agency and get nothing in return, Chicago could strike a deal with the Chiefs for Allen, knowing that Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, and Cole Kmet still form a more than robust arsenal for Williams to work with.
