Jared Goff breaks two NFL records, one of which stood for 85 years

The Detroit Lions ' offense had been inconsistent over the first three games of the season, as the unit simply couldn't put together two good halves of football in any contest. However, that changed in a big way in Week 4, with quarterback Jared Goff playing a huge role in the 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks .

Goff, who had struggled for the most part over the first three weeks, completed 18-of-18 passes (no, that's not a typo) for 292 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a seven-yard receiving score (again, not a typo) on a pass from wide receiver Amon-Ra. St. Brown.

With his spotless night, Goff broke two NFL records . The Lions quarterback now has the record for the most pass attempts without an incompletion, and the most passing yards without a incompletion in a single game.

Jared Goff breaks two NFL records

The previous record for the most pass attempts without a completion in a single game belonged to Kurt Warner, who went 10-for-10 in a 2005 contest. The record-holder for the most passing yards without a completion in a game was Frank Filchock, who threw for 179 yards in 1939.

Speaking of the aforementioned touchdown pass from St. Brown to Goff, it was just the fifth time in NFL history that two players on the same team have thrown and caught a touchdown pass in the same game. St. Brown was on the receiving end of a Goff touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

But wait, there's more: Goff has completed 36-of-41 passes (87.8%) in his last two games, which is tied for the second-highest completion rate for a quarterback with at least 40 attempts over a two-game span since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.

Goff also became the third quarterback in Lions history to record a passing, rushing and receiving touchdown during his tenure with the team.

There's is no other way to describe Goff's performance on Monday night than historic. He'll get to enjoy the fruits of his labor for an extra week with the Lions having a bye in Week 5 before a Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys .
