In the NBA, media day precedes training camp and serves as the unofficial start of the new season. It also can be one of the most fun days on the NBA calendar.

The Grizzlies made sure to have plenty of fun during this year's media day proceedings and at the center of things stood rookie Zach Edey. Edey, who can stake a claim as one of the tallest players in the NBA this season, posed for plenty of photos alongside his new teammates, but one in particular has gone viral.

A large height difference between Edey and fellow rookie Yuki Kawamura lent itself to an homage to a classic NBA photo featuring 5-3 Muggsy Bogues and the late Manute Bol, who, at 7-7, is tied as the tallest player to ever play in an NBA game .

While the height difference between Edey and Kawamura isn't quite 28 inches, the gap is quite staggering. Here's a look at the photos in all their glory.

The photo itself perfectly encapsulates the height differences among both pairs of teammates. Edey stands nearly 20 inches above Kawamura and, like Bol and Bogues, the implementation of three basketballs between them aids with the visual.

It is also evident that Edey is slightly shorter than Bol and Kawamura has a few inches in height on Bogues.

    How tall is Zach Edey?

Edey is listed at 7-3.75 on the Grizzlies training camp roster .

Depending on the NBA's official measurements, Edey could be tied with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama (listed at 7-3 on the Spurs roster) as the second and third tallest players to take the floor during the upcoming season.

Mavericks rookie Jamarion Sharp is listed at 7-5 .

    How tall is Yuki Kawamura?

Kawamura is listed at 5-8 on the roster.

After spending the last four seasons with the Yokohama B-Corsairs of the Japanese B. League, Kawamura signed with the Grizzlies ahead of the 2024-25 season. He would be among the shortest players in the NBA season as the Rockets recently agreed to terms with 5-7 guard Markquis Nowell.
