An NFL practice squad is forever changing as players get evaluated by their new teams and positional needs shift throughout the season.

On Tuesday, the New England Patriots made one roster move involving their practice squad, as they released wide receiver John Jiles.

Jiles, 24, joined New England's practice last week after spending the offseason and preseason with the New York Giants.

He played collegiately at Virginia Union, Fort Scott Community College and West Florida. In his final college season, he caught 66 passes for 1,255 yards and 16 touchdowns.

New England currently has five receivers on their roster and just one on their practice squad:

    • DeMario Douglas
    • K.J. Osborn
    • Tyquan Thornton
    • Kayhon Boutte
    • Ja'Lynn Polk
    • Javon Baker
    • Matt Landers (practice squad)

The Patriots haven't done much offensively this season, especially in the passing game, so they may be looking to use his spot on a position that could impact the team sooner.
