Ex-Detroit Lions CB Jerry Jacobs expresses frustration with fans, team

Former Detroit Lions defensive back Jerry Jacobs recently expressed frustration with the team, and with fans who don't think he was a good player over his tenure with the Lions.

A former undrafted free agent signing out of Arkansas, Jacobs defied the odds in his first season and made the Lions' 53-man roster . Granted, the Lions weren't good that year, but that doesn't take away from the feat he accomplished.

Jacobs went on to play in 40 games (29 starts) over three seasons with Detroit before he was allowed to walk in free agency during the offseason.

Since then, Jacobs landed with the Los Angeles Rams in July but was waived with an injury settlement in August, ending his brief stint there. Jacobs isn't currently with a team, but that could be because of his settlement.

Jacobs took to X recently to voice his displeasure with Lions fans who are in his replies on social media saying he wasn't a good player.

Jacobs also expressed frustration with the fact that the Lions never paid him, even though he believes he was the team's best cornerback at times. Jacobs did make sure to say he's still got love for the Lions and the city of Detroit.

Jacobs was a serviceable cornerback during his days with the Lions, but clearly that wasn't enough for Detroit to hold on to him. Instead, the Lions decided to revamp their entire cornerbacks room, trading for Carlton Davis, signing Amik Robertson and drafting Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

Jacobs wasn't perfect by any means, but he is a good backup who can bring value to a team in need of one. It would be surprising if he doesn't land on his feet at some point.
