Orioles trade proposal swaps Jackson Holiday for $50 million outfielder

The Baltimore Orioles offense managed to score just one run in the Wild Card series against the Kansas City Royals. They may be looking for offensive reinforcements in the offseason.

FanSided's Chris Landers suggested three players the Orioles could target by trading former No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Holliday. Among those names was Chicago White Sox slugger Luis Robert Jr.

"Robert Jr. could slide into Mullins' spot as the everyday center fielder, and he'd be a very good bet to bounce back after a down 2024," wrote Landers. "(You'd have a hard time staying motivated too on a team that bad, and there was next to no lineup protection.)"

Robert signed a six-year, $50 million deal with the White Sox in 2020 before he had ever played in a Major League Baseball game. He was the center of many trade rumors in the summer, but nothing came to fruition. The White Sox are not a competitive team right now, so they may look to get something back from him before he hits free agency in a few years.

Holliday struggled in his first season in the big leagues. He was up and down from Triple-A but started to find a groove late in the year. Landers suggests that general manager Mike Elias could look to flip Holliday for an offensive piece.

"His stock is still plenty high around the league, and if Elias is looking for a major talent upgrade, dealing Holliday would be the quickest way to check that box," wrote Landers.

Holliday was an extreme disappointment. If the orioles can get someone that actually hits the ball as a trade, go for it. But they will still make stupid pitching switches during the games, so probably won’t help with winning.
