The Philadelphia Flyers will wrap up their 2024 preseason tonight with a home game against the New Jersey Devils at the Wells Fargo Center. The matchup tonight won’t be your typical Flyers vs. Devils showdown. With the Devils participating in the 2024 Global Series in Prague on Friday, their entire starting roster is already overseas. This means the Flyers will face the players from the Devils’ AHL team, the Utica Comets.
Even more interesting, John Tortorella won’t be behind the Flyers’ bench tonight. Originally, Coach Torts planned to coach the final two exhibition games, but for this one, he’ll be watching from the press box. In his place, assistant coach Darryl Williams will take charge at ice level. It’s a great chance for the Flyers to get one last tune-up, regardless of the unusual circumstances.
