Former Red Sox slugger sets franchise record with new team

In 2021, the Boston Red Sox acquired outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber from the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline despite the fact that he was on the injured list.

Upon Schwarber's return, Boston made a run to the ALCS, ultimately falling to the Houston Astros, who went on to win the World Series.

In 41 games with the Red Sox in the regular season, Schwarber hit .291 with a .957 OPS, seven home runs and 18 RBIs. In the postseason, he hit .205 with a .718 OPS, three home runs and six RBIs.

Boston let Schwarber leave in free agency, and he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he remains to this day.

On Saturday, in Philadelphia's first NLDS game against the New York Mets, Schwarber hit a solo home run on just the third pitch of the game, which was his twelfth with the franchise. The home run put Schwarber past Jayson Werth for the most home runs in the team's postseason history.

Red Sox fans still love Schwarber and are enjoying his success from a distance, but plenty still wish he was mashing for Boston in 2024.
