Joel Embiid heckled by Yankees fans with brutal chant

New York sports fans don't like many outside of their own teams, especially not Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid.

After the New York Knicks knocked Embiid out of the 2024 NBA playoffs in a six-game series, the fans clearly still weren't satisfied. Rather than Yankees fans celebrating their Saturday evening victory over the Kansas City Royals, they turned their attention to heckling the Sixers center once again. As crowds were leaving Yankee Stadium, one fan began a "[Expletive] Embiid" chant, which echoed throughout the walkways.

Watch a video of the fans here.

The top-seeded Yankees are now leading 1-0 over the Royals in the American League Division Series. Game 2 of the best-of-five series is Monday night at 7:38 ET.

If the Embiid-Knicks rivalry wasn't intense enough already, New York's front office recently acquired one of his top frontcourt opponents. Karl-Anthony Towns and Embiid have not faced off much because of their long-time conference conflict, but each clash is a thriller.

The good news of Embiid receiving this stray is he's never had problems embracing the hate. The 2024 Paris Olympics were the perfect example, as the MVP was booed regularly for playing for Team USA rather than France. Instead of ignoring the heckles, Embiid would regularly respond with antics of his own.

In the USA's blowout victory over Puerto Rico, for example, he called for boos before attempting a shot from near half court with less than 10 seconds left. The unnecessary three-point shot was an airball.

Expect much more of this shining personality from Embiid as he looks to win his first championship alongside Paul George and Tyrese Maxey.
