T.J. Watt's 100th sack: Where Pittsburgh Steelers star ranks on all-time list

Pittsburgh Steelers star edge rusher T.J. Watt hit a special career milestone during the Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys when he notched a sack in the second quarter.

Watt took down Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the first quarter, giving him his 100th career sack after being credited with half of a sack. The Steelers star was already the franchise's all-time leader in the category.

Watt reached the milestone in his 109th career game, which is the second-earliest anyone has hit it in league history. Only Hall of Famer Reggie White reached it quicker than Watt.

When it comes to the all-time leaders in sacks, Watt still has a long way to go to get to the top of the list. Hall of Famer Bruce Smith has the NFL record with 200. The aforementioned White is in second place all time with 198.

Watt was tied for 42nd upon hitting the century mark, but he added another after that to bring him up to 101 for his career, which ranks 39th.

Watt will turn 30 on Oct. 11, so if he can stay healthy and pile up sacks over the next five years, he will have a shot to get there in the second half of his 30s.

Not counting his rookie season or his injury-shortened 2022, the Wisconsin product has averaged 16.8 sacks per season. If he can stay at that average or close to it, he'll be within striking distance in a handful of years.
