Dodgers urged to sign Padres projected $60 million All-Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers could use some bullpen help this offseason.

Los Angeles does have one of the best rosters in baseball, but the bullpen could be an area to improve in 2025. The Dodgers finished in fourth place in Major League Baseball with a 3.53 ERA in 2024.

While this is the case, it could make sense to add a top-tier closer this upcoming offseason. Los Angeles had Evan Phillips as closer in 2025 and had a 3.62 ERA in 61 appearances. He had 18 saves and was very steady, but the club could use a boost.

One player who will be available this winter is San Diego Padres star Tanner Scott. The lefty earned his first All-Star nod in 2024 and had an eye-popping 1.75 ERA in 72 appearances with the Padres and Miami Marlins. He tallied 22 saves this season and will be a free agent this winter. Scott will be paid well and is projected to get a $60 million deal over four years.

He will be one of the top options available this winter, and Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer floated him as a fit for the Dodgers.

"Yet there's just as strong of an argument for them to prioritize a reunion with Teoscar Hernández and late-inning weapons for their bullpen, such as Kirby Yates, Tanner Scott, or Jeff Hoffman," Rymer said. "Even this year, those areas have been short of foolproof."

Scott has developed into a true star in the bullpen and certainly should be in consideration for the Dodgers this winter.
