Tuesday was a jarring day in the Jets' facility — so jarring that Aaron Rodgers pushed back his weekly "Pat McAfee Show" appearance by a day.

Rodgers broke his silence on Robert Saleh's shocking firing Wednesday, discussing how he reacted to the news and how it was received by the team.

Many speculated after Tuesday's announcement that Rodgers might have had a role in Saleh's firing, following rumors that the relationship between the quarterback and his coach wasn't in the best place amid an inconsistent start to the season. Rodgers reacted strongly to those accusations on Wednesday.

Here's a look at what Saleh had to say about Saleh's firing and rumors about his role in the decision.

Rodgers vehemently denied that he played any role in owner Woody Johnson's decision to fire Saleh.

"I resent any of those accusations," Rodgers said on "The Pat McAfee Show," calling the idea that he pushed for or even knew about Saleh's firing "patently false."

Rodgers admitted he spoke with Johnson on Monday night but said Johnson was just checking in on how he was feeling. Rodgers suffered a low-ankle sprain against the Vikings on Sunday but didn't miss a snap.

Johnson claimed Tuesday that he made the decision himself to fire Saleh and promote Jeff Ulbrich to the interim role. "We are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time to move us in a different direction," Johnson said in a statement.

"I had no foreknowledge of any of it," Rodgers said, also describing his relationship with Saleh as "solid."

"He was a big reason why I came to the Jets," Rodgers said.

Rodgers took a sympathetic approach to Saleh's firing, describing how he became close with the former Jets coach's family and calling the NFL a tough business.

"It's interesting the amount of power that people think that I have, which I don't," Rodgers said, explaining that he "loves" Saleh.

Speculation mounted about a possible rift between Rodgers and Saleh after Week 3 when Rodgers appeared to shove Saleh on the sideline after a touchdown. The pair explained it away as an awkward celebration, but more rumors arose when Rodgers seemed to openly disagree with Saleh about how to reduce offensive penalties.

Nevertheless, Rodgers and Saleh have only shared positive sentiments about each other when speaking to the media. Their partnership ended Tuesday, and it will be up to Ulbrich to harness the potential of a Rodgers-led Jets team.
