Will the Houston Astros find a way to keep star third baseman Alex Bregman this winter?

This is going to be the biggest talking point swirling around the club over the next few months as free agency approaches. There was a time when it seemed like Bregman was going to be traded, but the team turned things around.

Houston kept Bregman around, and now it needs to determine its next step. Bregman is going to be expensive, with Spotrac projecting him to get a deal worth $165 million over six years.

The San Francisco Giants recently signed fellow third baseman Matt Chapman to a six-year deal worth $151 million so $165 million for Bregman shouldn't be too much to ask for. If he's looking for much more than that, then it could be a tough discussion.

In the past, there were other questions about whether or not the Astros would keep core members around. Houston decided to let shortstop Carlos Correa walk and kept Jose Altuve.

It's too early to know what the team will do with Bregman. He has been a beloved figure for Astros fans throughout his career and has won two World Series as a member of the club. Houston clearly will have competition for his services, though. Other clubs already have been floated as a possible landing spot for him, including the New York Yankees.

There's no way to know what will happen but the only thing that is for sure is that Bregman is going to get paid well.

Mr Crane, I know that it's not my money, but I love youth myself but he has something more to give into athletes, so at 165 for 6 sounds good but on the sixth gotta have a clause on his skills just saying....
