Ex-Mets superstar projected to get $15 million contract

The 2024 Major League Baseball postseason is currently ongoing, and one team that has been a surprise certainly is the New York Mets.

New York is just one win away from taking down the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series and moving on to take on either the Los Angeles Dodgers or San Diego Padres in the National League Championship Series.

Things are looking up for the Mets, and they will have plenty of money to spend this winter as they look to take an even bigger step forward in 2025.

The postseason has been exciting so far, and soon enough, free agency will be here as well. There will be plenty of stars available, and the Mets already have been linked to a few, including New York Yankees star Juan Soto.

There will be plenty of other players available as well, including a former Mets star. Former Mets pitcher Max Scherzer has been pitching for the Texas Rangers over the last year-plus after being traded ahead of the trade deadline in 2023.

He will be a free agent this winter and seemingly wants to continue his playing career. Scherzer certainly will get paid well and is projected to get a one-year deal worth $15.3 million, according to Spotrac.

This doesn't mean that he should be in the mix for the Mets. In fact, the Mets should look elsewhere in free agency to add pitching. New York has been linked to fellow star Corbin Burnes, who would make more sense.

It's clear that the former Mets star will get paid well this winter, though.
