Raiders and Rams predicted to make a trade involving offensive lineman

The Las Vegas Raiders are sitting at 2-3 after five games, but the season already feels like it's over. The team looks set to unload Davante Adams, and there is no hope at the quarterback position, even with a change from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O'Connell incoming.

The best bet for Raiders general manager Tom Telesco is to start selling off parts and prepare for an inevitable rebuild or retool of the roster. Even if the Raiders can turn things around, they're going to be an eight- or nine-win team, at best, and that will only hurt their chances at drafting a quarterback next year.

Outside of Maxx Crosby and promising young players under contract after this season, Telesco should be trading away anything that isn't nailed down.

One player who could be moved is veteran offensive lineman Cody Whitehair, who the Raiders signed as an insurance policy at guard. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin sees Whitehair getting shipped out to the Los Angeles Rams .

The Rams already have a ton invested into the front, throwing money at both Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson this offseason. Still, Matthew Stafford and the ground game could use reinforcements.

While Whitehair offers versatility with his ability to play guard and center, that's just about all he offers. While filling in for injured rookie Jackson Powers-Johnson, the 32-year-old struggled, posting grades of 58.7 in pass-blocking and 39.9 in run-blocking, according to Pro Football Focus .

It certainly wouldn't hurt the Rams to acquire more help along the offensive line, but Whitehair isn't going to offer that, thus he wouldn't be worth the seventh-round pick — or even a swap of late-round picks — he would likely cost.

Not to mention, with Los Angeles at 1-4, the team might not be looking to acquire anyone, and that's especially true for a player like Whitehair.

From the Raiders' perspective, if anyone comes calling for Whitehair, they should absolutely take whatever they can get for him, whether they plan on being full sellers at the deadline or not.
