New York Giants punter Jamie Gillan popped up on the injury report late in the week, and the team had to make some moves to find his potential replacement.

With Gillan listed as questionable on the final injury report with a hamstring injury, the Giants held a competition for a handful of free-agent punters.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN , the winner of that competition was Matt Haack, who was signed to the active roster on Saturday.

The signing signals that likelihood that Gillan is inactive for Sunday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium.

Haack is expected to punt in his 100th career game on Sunday night.

Entering the league in 2017 as an undrafted free agent, Haack spent four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He then spent time with the Buffalo Bills (2021), Indianapolis Colts (2022), Arizona Cardinals (2023), Cleveland Browns (2023) and then back on the Bills (2024).

On 432 career punts, Haack has averaged 44.5 yards per punt with a 5.8% touchback rate and 37% rate inside the 20.
