The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Evan Hull to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced Saturday.

With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) set to miss his second consecutive game due to a high-ankle sprain, Hull will provide some depth in the backfield behind Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson.

A fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Hull missed the majority of his rookie season due to a knee injury he suffered during the first game of the season.

While there was some promise he would earn the backup role during the preseason, the Colts opted to keep Sermon and Goodson on the active roster.

With Taylor out during the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sermon led the way with 59% of the snaps while taking 10 carries for 38 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. He also added six receptions on six targets for 25 yards.

Goodson also saw some work, playing 41% of the snaps while taking five carries for 26 rushing yards and three receptions on three targets for 31 receiving yards.
