New York Giants place star pass rusher on injured reserve list

The New York Giants will be without star pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux for at least four games.

Thibodeaux had already been ruled out for the Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals after undergoing wrist surgery earlier in the week.

It was expected to be a multi-week recovery, and that has now become a reality.

The Giants are placing Thibodeaux on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic .

Duggan also reported that Thibodeaux is expected to be sidelined for roughly 4-6 weeks due to a broken scaphoid bone in his wrist that required surgery.

Considering the Giants have a Week 11 bye, there's a good chance Thibodeaux doesn't return until after that week off has already passed.

Thibodeaux has enjoyed a solid start to his third season. According to Next Gen Stats , he ranks 25th in quarterback pressures (17) and 21st in quick pressures under three seconds (8).

Stepping up for Thibodeaux is likely to be Azeez Ojulari, who has seven quarterback pressures and one sack on the season in a limited role.
