Do you remember getting a present for your birthday that's not at all what you wanted? Like a homemade sweater from your aunt that itches way too much? Or maybe a bland pair of socks?

Well, none of those gifts compare to the absolute stinker that the Cowboys delivered Jerry Jones on Sunday.

While Jones toasted to turning 82 years old, there was quite literally zero celebrating done by his Dallas team on the field. The Cowboys were blown out at AT&T Stadium 47-9 by the Lions, dropping to 3-3 on the season in the process and giving the team more questions heading into the Week 7 bye.

The 38-point defeat is by far the worst loss suffered so far on the 2024 season for Mike McCarthy's crew, and it continues a string of poor performances out of a squad that started the campaign with Super Bowl aspirations.

Just how bad was the loss to the Lions? Here is where the 47-9 defeat ranks on the all-time losses list for Dallas.

    Worst losses in Cowboys history

The loss to the Lions in Week 7 catapults itself to the top five of the worst losses suffered by the Cowboys in team history. It also marks the worst defeat by the Cowboys at home this century.

It is the fifth time Dallas has ever lost by a 38-point margin, joining previous defeats in 2010 (45-7 to the Packers), 2008 (44-6 to the Eagles), 1970 (38-0 to the St. Louis Cardinals), and 1960 (45-7 to the Baltimore Colts).

The worst loss ever remains the 44-0 shutout the Cowboys suffered in 1985 at the hands of the daunted Bears. In fairness, Dallas wasn't the only offense terrorized by Chicago's "Monsters of the Midway" that season.
