Colts' Anthony Richardson had perfect answer to being held out of Week 6 game

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson wanted to play in the Week 6 game against the Tennessee Titans .

However, the Colts ultimately made the decision to keep him off the field for one more week after suffering an oblique injury in Week 4, which forced him to miss the game in Week 5.

Richardson was able to practice in some capacity throughout the week, which led most to believe he would make his return for the division matchup.

Even so, Richardson had the perfect answer when speaking to Stephen Holder of ESPN about the team's decision to hold him out.

"Anything for the team, man. If they feel like it's best for me to sit another week. I'm listening to them. If they feel like it's best for me to go out there and play, I'm going to listen to them. Whatever they feel is best for the team, that's what it is," Richardson said.

Richardson was inactive for the game but deemed the emergency third quarterback. If injuries befell both Joe Flacco and Sam Ehlinger, then Richardson would have been permitted to enter the game.

That clearly didn't happen as Flacco played 100% of the snaps in the 20-17 road win.

When asked by Holder about how his oblique feels after taking an awkward shot from Pittsburgh Steelers star Minkah Fitzpatrick in Week 4, Richardson hopes to return next week.

"I mean, I'm still healing. If they would've said I was rolling this week, I would've went out there and rolled. But I'm feeling good though. Hopefully I get back out there next week," Richardson said.

It certainly doesn't seem like Richardson is fully healthy, which is why the Colts may have leaned toward keeping out for one more game.

The 2024 season has always been about Richardson's development, and the only way he can do that is if he's healthy enough to stay on the field.
