The Las Vegas Raiders have finally said goodbye to star wide receiver Davante Adams, who was traded to the New York Jets on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional 2025 third-round pick.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , the third-round pick becomes a second-rounder if one of four conditions are met: Adams is voted a first- or second-team All-Pro, or Adams is on the Jets' active roster for the AFC Championship Game or Super Bowl.

There is also some financial fallout for the Raiders, who are not picking up any of Adams' contract in the trade with the Jets and will recoup a ton of money in the upcoming years.

Raiders' updated cap space in 2025, 2026

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero , the Raiders will save an immediate $11.6 million this year with Adams' remaining salary coming off the books. Per Spotrac , that leaves Las Vegas with $37.6 million in cap space right now.

As far as the future is concerned, Spotrac revealed that the trade clears up $28.4 million in cap space for the Raiders in 2025, and general manager Tom Telesco is projected to have $108 million in cap space next year, the fifth-most in the NFL.

Looking even further ahead to 2026, the Raiders cleared another $37 million and are projected to have $203 million in cap space that year. Of course, take the 2026 cap space number largely with a grain of salt, as a lot can change between now and then. What's more pertinent is the 2025 number.

    2024 cap space: $37.6M

    2025 cap space: $108.4M

    2026 cap space: $203.8M

Las Vegas will still carry dead money from Adams' deal into the future, though. Per CBS Sports' Joel Corry , Adams will account for $15.7 million in 2025. But that's a small price to pay for unloading as much money as Vegas did.

Things are no doubt bleak for the Raiders for the remainder of the 2024 season, but the Adams trade greatly helps their financial situation in the next few years and the future is at least looking bright in that regard.

Now, the Raiders will have to hope that Telesco will spend that money wisely en route to turning this franchise around, but that's a discussion for another day.
