Proposed Titans and Chiefs trade is a no-brainer for Kansas City

The Kansas City Chiefs are the lone undefeated team remaining in the AFC, but Andy Reid's squad still has a few holes that need to be addressed, one of which the Tennessee Titans could help out with.

With key injuries to Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice, Kansas City has a desperate need for a wide receiver. Rookie Xavier Worthy and veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster are currently the top players in the receiving room, and that's not going to cut in a loaded AFC filled with formidable defenses.

There aren't many premier wide receiver trade targets left on the market after Davante Adams was finally traded to the New York Jets and Amari Cooper was dealt to the Buffalo Bills, but CBS Sports Cody Benjamin suggests Tennessee Titans' receiver Deandre Hopkins as an option for the Chiefs. He thinks a 2025 fifth-round pick would be enough to satisfy Tennessee.

He was supposed to be part of the 1-2 punch out wide that elevated Will Levis in Tennessee, but the Titans might rather get something for him before his inevitable 2025 free-agent exit now that the flailing Levis offense is off to a 1-4 start. At 32 on a bad knee, his value isn't through the roof. To a contender like the Chiefs, however, he could prove vital to a potential stretch run, with Patrick Mahomes very dependent on rookie Xavier Worthy and an aging Travis Kelce amid injuries to Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown.

This should be a no-brainer for general manager Brett Veach. Though Hopkins is no longer playing at an All-Pro level, the 32-year-old is still a very savvy and productive player.

Hopkins posted a 1,000-yard season in 2023 with inconsistent quarterback play and is off to a slow start in 2024 due to abysmal play from Will Levis.

Hopkins would be a seamless fit in the Chiefs' culture, along with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, as the veteran is battle-tested and has a diverse skill set and route tree.

For the Titans, the 2024 campaign has gotten off on the wrong foot, and digging out of their 1-4 hole will be challenging. Hopkins is one of the only aging players on the roster who holds trade value, and general manager Ran Carthon could easily snag a third or fourth-round pick in a potential deal with Kansas City.

3rd or 4th round? 6th round at most for a guy who maybe gas one good year left and a bum knee
