Oregon defensive lineman ranks highly among ESPN’s most impactful transfers

The Oregon defense made plays when they needed to in a 32-31 win over the Ohio State last Saturday in Eugene. A big part of that defense was Ducks’ defensive lineman Derrick Harmon, who stripped the ball from Buckeye running back Quinshon Judkins to help Oregon get on the board early in the game.

This play helped give Harmon some notable recognition in ESPN’s most impactful newcomers list. Harmon comes in at No. 12 on this list, while his teammate and quarterback Dillon Gabriel came in at No. 7.

Harmon is off to a great start in 2024. The former Michigan State Spartan has 22 tackles, three sacks, three pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. He will serve a key role in Oregon’s upcoming games, where they will be tested at the line of scrimmage against teams like Michigan and Wisconsin.

However, the Ducks will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, to take on Purdue on Friday night. Ross-Ade Stadium has been a trap for top-five teams in years past. So on limited rest, Oregon will need to bring its A-game to avoid what could be a major upset.
