Michigan shouldn't be a ranked team. Why these 3 teams should be instead

With the most recent edition of the AP Top 25 Poll , the AP voters are still refusing to admit when they made a mistake ranking a team too highly in the preseason. With Michigan still being ranked in the top 24, many fans believe that this ranking is simply because they were ranked nine in the preseason poll after coming off winning the National Championship.

Michigan has lost two games, one being a blowout against Texas, which is nothing to make fun of as Texas is now ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation . But the other loss, this one being the most recent, was a 27-17 loss vs. the Washington Huskies who have lost three games. The Wolverines also came away with just 3-point wins versus both USC, who now sits at 3-3, and Minnesota, who is 4-3. That three loss USC team is Michigan’s best win of the season to this point.

Meanwhile, teams like Texas Tech, Arizona State, and Washington State are all still unranked.

    The Case for Arizona State

Arizona State is 5-1 and has the best signature win of any squad on this list, beating the No. 16 Utah Utes 27-19, but it has no other impressive win this season. The Sun Devils also lost 30-22 to Texas Tech and was in close battles against Kansas, Mississippi State, and Texas State.

Arizona State has the weakest case of any squad on this list, but its signature win is the most impressive, which made the Sun Devils worthy of including.

    The Case for Texas Tech

Texas Tech sits at 5-1 and is first in the Big 12. It has picked up wins against Arizona State and Cincinnati this season, which are both arguably better wins than Michigan’s win over USC.

The Red Raiders’ solo loss this season came against Washington State, who has perhaps the best case of any of these squads to be ranked instead of the Wolverines.

    The Case for Washington State

Washington State has a record of 5-1 and has beaten both Texas Tech (37-16) and Washington (24-19), who beat Michigan. The lone loss for the Cougars came in a 45-24 blowout against Boise State, who is now ranked as a top 15 team in the nation.

Washington State has better signature wins than Michigan, and its lone loss came against a very respectable squad, unlike Michigan who has two losses which both came against teams who both have three losses.
