The Detroit Lions should be in the market for an edge rusher in the wake of the injury to Aidan Hutchinson, who is out for the season after suffering a broken tibia and fibula during the Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

While Lions fans would love to see general manager Brad Holmes make a big splash, it's more likely than not that the Lions do something smaller, and it's possible the Miami Dolphins could have that kind of option for them.

In an article suggesting five players the Lions should try to trade for to replace Hutchinson, The 33rd Team's Tyler Brooke proposed a deal between Miami and Detroit that sends Emmanuel Ogbah to Motown for a 2025 fifth-round pick.

The Miami Dolphins feel like a team on the precipice of a full-on tank for the 2024 season. That could make players like Emmanuel Ogbah expendable.

Ogbah has been a fine rotational player for the Dolphins but is expected to take a step up with Jaelan Phillips out for the season with a knee injury. In five games, he's racked up 10 pressures, two sacks, and an interception.

The Dolphins have their own injury issues along the edge, so they aren't going to trade Ogbah unless they fall out of contention, but that's very possible if Tua Tagovailoa doesn't return soon.

If the Dolphins do become sellers at the trade deadline, a player on a one-year deal like Ogbah would be a prime candidate to be moved.

The 30-year-old edge rusher has tallied two sacks and 10 pressures in a limited role over five games this season. Ogbah's best years in terms of sack totals came in 2020 and 2021, when he finished with nine, so he's capable of more.

The Lions should, of course, be aiming higher in their quest to replace what is an irreplaceable player, but Ogbah wouldn't be a bad consolation prize by any stretch, and especially for the price Brooke suggests.
