Malik Nabers injury update: Latest news on New York Giants star in Week 7

The New York Giants have been without star wide receiver Malik Nabers for two consecutive games due to a concussion.

Nabers hasn't practiced at all since exiting the game late against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. He seemed to be making some progress in Week 6 but ultimately was ruled out.

The Giants have been getting by with Darius Slayton leading the receiver room over the last two weeks, but Nabers' return can't come soon enough.

Up to this point, the most Nabers has done at practice is doing some work on the side with the training staff. It seems that will change on Wednesday.

According to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com , Nabers will progress through the league's concussion protocol to the point where he'll practice with a red non-contact jersey,

"Nabers is expected to be a non-contact participant in practice, which means he is advancing in the concussion protocol and is on track for return, an individual with knowledge of the situation told NorthJersey.com," Stapleton reported Wednesday.

This is a huge deal for Nabers and the Giants, who just lost star left tackle Andrew Thomas for the remainder of the season with a Lisfranc injury.

Nabers is likely to be a limited participant on Wednesday's injury report, but that bodes well for him to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles , barring a setback.

We'll see just how much the rookie sensation will practice to begin the week, but it appears he's making tangible progress.
