Dallas Goedert injury: Latest on Eagles tight end's status for Week 7 vs. Giants

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert was limited to just three offensive snaps in Sunday’s 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns due to a hamstring injury.

Given the nature of soft-tissue injuries in the NFL, the Eagles star tight end could miss multiple weeks, starting with Week 7 against the New York Giants .

Goedert has not been placed on injured reserve, though, and head coach Nick Sirianni stopped short of ruling his tight end out for the Giants game on Wednesday.

“We’ll see,” he said. “Obviously, we still have time (this week). I don’t expect him to do much at practice (on Wednesday), but we’ll see how that goes. I don’t ever want to put a cap on a guy that I know is going to work his butt off to get back. Dallas is ultra-tough, and if anybody can get back to playing faster than what you might anticipate, it’s Dallas Goedert.”

Injuries have been an issue for Goedert throughout his six-year tenure in Philadelphia.

He was limited to 14 games in 2023 due to a fractured forearm that required surgery, finishing with 59 catches for 592 yards and three touchdowns. In 2022, he landed on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury. Goedert has only played a full slate of regular season games once in his career, and that was his rookie season in 2018.

Goedert has helped keep the Eagles passing game afloat this season with starting wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith both missing time with injuries. He ranks second on the team in receiving yards with 303 through the four games he was healthy.

The expectation right now is for Grant Calcaterra to be the top pass-catching tight end for quarterback Jalen Hurts against the Giants and beyond.
