Chelsea commenced their UEFA Women's Champions League in victorious fashion last week after claiming 3-2 victory over Real Madrid on matchday one of the competition. The Blues will return to European action this Wednesday as they travel to Enschede to face FC Twente in the second group stage fixture of the tournament.

Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor spoke to the media to preview the Champions League game against the Dutch side.

'We have ambitions to finish first in this group' affirms Bompastor

Chelsea's upcoming opponents in FC Twente are also returning from victory after beating Celtic 2-0 in their Champions League opener. Bompastor remained unfazed when asked about the quality of Wednesday's opposition, stating that her side are "well prepared" for the match.

She continued, "We analyze the opposition a lot. We know exactly what is going to happen tomorrow in the game and we are prepared for that. We have the ambitions to finish in the first position of the group so it is about being able to win the game, get the three points and continue our journey in the group."

USWNT forward Catarina Macario 'working individually' to return to full playing time

American striker Catarina Macario is the only player absent from Chelsea's travelling squad to face FC Twente, something Bompastor provided an update on in her press conference.

Bompastor confirmed, "We are building some minutes and building on her fitness, that's a part of the plan and a part of her own process. We thought it was a good decision to have her stay in London to work individually. She will be ready for the game on Sunday."

Sam Kerr 'in a good place' amidst ACL recovery

Star striker Sam Kerr has been missing in action since rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in January. When asked to provide an update on Kerr's recovery, Bompastor expressed "Sam is doing good. Mentally, I think she is in a good place."

She continued, "During the international break we will have a meeting with the staff just to make her plan and see when she will be able to start practice individually with the technical staff. At the moment she is in a good place and she is in good form mentally."
