The Seattle Seahawks have been aggressive since the start of the season addressing their roster needs and tweaking every last little detail. The pre-regular season deals that sent Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears and Mike Jackson to the Carolina Panthers may not look so bright right now as Seattle is currently hammered by injuries both on the edge and at cornerback.

However, general manager John Schneider has also made some shrewd deals. Tuesday's trade to acquire defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris from the Jacksonville Jaguars was one of them. Robertson-Harris helps address the team's greatest issue - at least if we're not counting injuries, which they can't control - run defense. Specifically, RRH gives Seattle more size in the middle of their defensive line to plug up the run.

In addition to addressing the team's biggest flaw on the field, the move gave the Seahawks a solid veteran defender not just for the rest of 2024, but also for another two years. Robertson-Harris' current contract runs through the 2026 season and his cap hits the next two seasons are both under $7 million. After the trade his cap hit for the rest of this year is just under $1.4 million , according to the cap math by Field Gulls.

The move gives the Seahawks around $10.7 million in salary cap space remaining for the 2024 season, according to figures at Over the Cap . That number ranks Seattle 17th in the league in cap space. More than enough to be aggressive at the trade deadline and try to address the holes at corner and edge.
