The Saints are going to have to navigate through the rest of "Thursday Night Football" without a key member of their secondary.

New Orleans cornerback Paulson Adebo had to be carted off the field during the prime-time contest against Denver at the Caesar Superdome.

At the time of Adebo's exit, the Saints were down 6-0 to the Broncos. However, after the New Orleans cornerback exited the game, Denver rookie Bo Nix led a drive that resulted in a Javonte Williams touchdown to put the Broncos ahead 13-0 and en route to a 33-10 victory .

    Paulson Adebo injury update

Adebo was injured during the second quarter of the Saints-Broncos "Thursday Night Football" contest to kick off Week 7.

The Saints cornerback was trying to tackle Denver running back Javonte Williams when Williams was dragged down from behind by Adebo's teammate, Jordan Howard. Adebo's attempted tackle resulted in a miss, as Adebo fell over the outstretched Williams.

It's hard to tell on the video what caused the injury, but Adebo is seen immediately wincing in pain, grabbing at his leg, and motioning for help. He was attended to by medical staff on the field before he was eventually carted off.

The 25-year-old is feared to have suffered a broken leg, according to Amazon Prime's Kaylee Hartung on the broadcast.

Adebo was ruled out for the remainder of the game, and the Saints diagnosed him with a knee injury.

Rico Payton is listed as the backup to Adebo on the Saints' official depth chart and is expected to see an increased role with Adebo out for the time being.

Hartung later reported that Adebo was taken via ambulance to a nearby New Orleans hospital. Even with it being listed as a knee injury, head coach Dennis Allen said after the game that Adebo broke his femur.

Friday morning, Adam Schefter reported Adebu underwent surgery for a season-ending broken femur. The timeline for recovery is estimated to be between four and five months, which coincides with his free agency beginning in March.
