Braves hinted to be in mix for predicted $200 million slugger

The Atlanta Braves sadly didn't make a deep run in the playoffs this year, but they did show a lot of grit throughout the season.

Atlanta fought hard despite injuries piling up all year. The Braves lost more important pieces than probably any other Major League Baseball team, and yet they made the playoffs. Atlanta was strategic with additions throughout the year and boasts one of the deepest rosters in baseball.

The Braves don't necessarily need to make major changes this winter. While this is the case, if they decide to make a splash in free agency, shortstop could be a position of need. One player who Atlanta was floated as an option for is Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames, with a possible $200 million deal incoming, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Adames has been a frequent trade target of the (Los Angeles Dodgers), Braves, and (San Francisco Giants), and Atlanta also could use him now, but with a $200 million-plus price tag, he might be pricey for them (they let their own longtime shortstop Dansby Swanson go for $177M to the Chicago Cubs)."

Adames is one of the best-hitting shortstops in baseball. He shined for the Brewers this year and is a big reason why they shocked the baseball world and finished atop the National League Central standings.

It's not every day that you can bring in a shortstop capable of hitting 32 or more home runs in a season while driving in over 100 runs. Adames is a star and would add another important layer to the Braves' offense.

Atlanta should give him a call this winter, although it doesn't necessarily need to make a massive change.
