Bears named fit for $54 million Jaguars veteran in possible blockbuster

The Chicago Bears are in the unfamiliar position of looking to add at the trade deadline. Where will they start?

There are plenty of positions that the Bears could seek to upgrade. Linebacker, edge-rusher, and even tight end are all possible options. But the offensive line remains the most pressing concern as Chicago enters the middle third of its season.

Keeping rookie quarterback Caleb Williams upright is the key not only to the Bears' success this season, but their future as a whole. They were abysmal in that regard early in the season, but have improved over the last three weeks during their recent winning streak.

Now, the Bears have the chance to solidify their line with some help at the deadline. Nick Villano of FanSided named Jacksonville Jaguars starting tackle Cam Robinson as a fit for the Bears in a possible trade.

"Robinson is a veteran and one of the few reliable options available via trade," Villano said. "The Bears will have competition, and that might drive up the price, but they have some very desirable assets (like the (Carolina) Panthers second-round pick) that will move the needle for the Jaguars."

Robinson, 29, has been the Jaguars' primary left tackle since he was drafted 34th overall in 2017. He's currently in the final season of a three-year, $54 million deal, so Jacksonville would be wise to leverage his impending free agency and get something from a team looking for line help rather than losing him for nothing.

The Bears have the need, and they certainly have the assets to entice the Jaguars into making a blockbuster trade. Robinson could be the blind side protector Williams needs to take the next step toward becoming a top-flight quarterback.
