Dodgers blockbuster trade idea would land White Sox 25-year-old All-star

The Los Angeles Dodgers have one of the best rosters in baseball and even more solid talent coming up from the minor leagues.

Los Angeles has so much star power at the big league level, and yet it also has a fantastic farm system. Those prospects can help pave the way for even more stars coming to Los Angeles. Once the postseason ends, Los Angeles likely will be active as it has been each year in recent memory.

The Dodgers will try to add more talent, and trading top prospects could be a way to do so. Los Angeles could use at least one more starting pitcher, and because of this, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer listed the Dodgers among "potential fits" for Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet.

"In case anyone needs a quick recap of a complex story, Garrett Crochet seemed as good as gone at the trade deadline right up until he tried to leverage the situation to his advantage," Rymer said. "That involved threatening to sit out the postseason if he didn't get a contract extension from his new team. An empty threat? Almost certainly. But it effectively killed his market all the same.

"The White Sox are nonetheless sure to try to trade Crochet again this winter. He's a hugely valuable asset, as he's an All-Star who's only 25 and under club control through 2026...Potential Fits: Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles."

Crochet is 25 years old and was an All-Star in 2024. It was his first season fully as a starter, and he had a 3.58 ERA across 32 starts while striking out 209 batters across 146 innings of work. He is young, not that expensive, and a left-handed star. All three of these factors should contribute to the Dodgers wanting to make a move.

After the absolute junk the Dodgers gave the Whitesox in the last deal. See Miguel Vargas. A 25 year old minor league Allstar who can't hit fastballs. Why would anyone trade with them?
