According to sports analyst Skip Bayless, Boston Celtics superstar forward Jayson Tatum is the reason Jaylen Brown won’t win MVP. For Skip, Brown is the best player on the team and an MVP candidate this season.

“Like everybody else, it’s hard for me to pick against the Celtics this year,” said Skip. “It’s not because of Jayson Tatum, it’s because of his running mate, Jaylen Brown…He is an MVP candidate who can’t win MVP because of Jayson Tatum.”

Last season, Tatum averaged 27 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal per game. Brown averaged 23 points, five and a half rebounds, three and a half assists, and a steal per game.

For Skip, the Celtics’ star power barely works together, and Brown owns more of the 2024 Championship than Tatum does.

“That team [The Celtics] is a behemoth because it has two superstars who barely sort of make peace with each other, and coexist just barely. Their championship belongs more to Jaylen Brown than it does Jayson Tatum.”

In all honesty, this really isn’t true. Brown was a more consistent shooter than Tatum, but Tatum led the team in points, rebounds, and assists the entire playoffs. Tatum also has former NBA players and analysts backing him as a top 2 player and MVP candidate .

So in reality, the Jays have an equal chance to get the coveted award. All that’s left is for the season to start and the two to show fans and critics what they’re made of.
