Some people within the Boston Red Sox are considering targeting Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames, per Chris Cotilllo . However, Adames might ask for a huge price, $200+ million dollars, per Jon Heyman .

This past season, Adames slashed .251/.331/.462/.794 with 32 homers, 33 doubles, and 112 RBI. The shortstop was also the offensive pillar for the Brewers.

The Red Sox are looking around for a middle infielder and a right-handed bat, and Adames seems like a good fit. The only problems are the price tag that comes with him, and the players already in the middle infield.

According to Heyman, teams linked to Adames currently are the LA Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays, all who are in the hunt for a middle infielder as well.

If the Sox were to get Adames, he would probably play shortstop or second base. But, the Sox already have young talent in Kristian Campbell and Vaughn Grissom for second, and Trevor Story and Ceddanne Rafaela for short.

The only way this would work is if Adames became the primary DH, which might not happen due to Masataka Yoshida being untradeable , or trading Trevor Story, who has solidified himself as the leader of the team, making him somewhat untouchable.

Overall, while he would be nice on paper, Adames will probably not call Boston home this upcoming season.
