Lakers predicted to reunite with former No. 18 overall pick cut by Celtics

The Los Angeles Lakers are plausible favorites to acquire a talented scoring guard who was waived by the Boston Celtics on Saturday.

The Lakers need to acquire a bench scorer to keep their offense afloat when LeBron James and Anthony Davis are taking turns resting.

Someone like former Laker Lonnie Walker IV would be nice — Walker played in 56 games for Los Angeles in 2022-23 (32 starts), offering plug-and-play scoring off the bench with 11.7 points per game.

Wait a minute, Walker himself just became available after getting cut by the Celtics, per ESPN’s Shams Charania .

“The Boston Celtics are waiving guard Lonnie Walker IV, sources tell ESPN,” Charania said.

“Walker averaged 7.3 points in 16.4 minutes per game in Celtics preseason.”

Walker would be a perfect fit to rejoin the Lakers after spending 2023-24 getting buckets for the Brooklyn Nets.

Walkers was selected with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
