Maxx Crosby fuels Lions trade speculation after sharing social media post

The Las Vegas Raiders are going nowhere in 2024 and that has led to speculation about the team possibly trading star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, with the Detroit Lions being easily the most talked about potential landing spot.

However, Crosby has said on multiple occasions that he doesn't want to be traded, and Raiders owner Mark Davis has shot down the idea that his best player could be moved by the Nov. 5 deadline.

"Come on bro, you know where I want to be," Crosby said recently. "You think I want to be anywhere else? No. I got this s--- tatted on my body. I don't want to go anywhere."

"Oh no, I want to trade Maxx today," Davis joked. "It's unfortunate today, but there's so much outside chatter that is not true. It's not coming from any sources. It's not coming from anything... It's just not happening."

But Crosby has done a few things recently to fuel trade speculation. First, he made it quite clear he has no interest in going through a rebuild, something the Raiders are staring in the face after another disappointing season.

“I don’t believe in, you know, I’m not here to rebuild, I’m here to win, so, you know, I don’t know whatever that means,” Crosby told reporters. “I’m here to win now, and wherever I’m gonna be, I’m, you know, I’m gonna be here to win, so that’s all that matters to me.”

Then, on Saturday, he shared a post on his Instagram story that urged him to "come home" to Michigan with the Lions "and win a (ring)."

Of course, Crosby played his college ball at Eastern Michigan and even has a field named after him (the one in the picture above), so going to Detroit would be a homecoming of sorts.

Adding to that, the Lions recently lost their own star edge rusher in Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 6.

Crosby is one of the few human beings on the planet who could match what Hutchinson can do on a football field and he would be just what the doctor ordered for the Lions, who desperately need pass-rush help.

While it remains unlikely that Crosby will be moved when you take everything into account, it can't be ruled out, either. And, if the Raiders do decide to trade their franchise cornerstone, the Lions should absolutely be all in.

Offer him an average contract with stronger incentive pay for performance and play-off success.
