In the wake of the injury to Detroit Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, there have been plenty of names thrown around as potential trade targets for the Lions, with New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick being one of them.

The Lions reportedly checked in on Reddick recently, but it isn't clear how serious they were about acquiring him. But that doesn't matter now, as Reddick has reportedly ended his holdout with the Jets.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Reddick and the Jets reached an agreement on an adjusted contract and the veteran edge rusher will report to the team on Monday.

"Holdout over: Standout edge rusher Haason Reddick and the Jets reached agreement on an adjusted contract," Schefter wrote. "Reddick will be reporting to the team on Monday morning."

"We will continue to work towards a long term extension with the Jets," Reddick's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said.

Reddick had been granted permission to seek a trade last week, and while he was one of the few players out there who could even approach what Hutchinson can do on a football field after tallying double-digit sacks in each of the past four yours, it was always a long shot that the Lions would get him.

That's because the conditional pick the Jets sent to the Philadelphia Eagles in their trade for Reddick would have become a second-rounder if New York traded the disgruntled edge rusher to the Lions, which figured to be a roadblock.

General manager Brad Holmes already had a tall task in front of him in terms of being able to bring in an impact pass-rusher. With Reddick off the market, that job just got a bit more difficult.
