It's beyond puzzling at this point.

The New York Jets could not have traded up to draft Malachi Corley at No. 65 overall, only to make him a healthy scratch for four out of the first seven games. With the Jets set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football, the rookie wide receiver is again amongst the gameday inactives.

In addition to Corley, backup offensive lineman Max Mitchell, offensive tackle Carter Warren, running back Israel Abanikanda and undrafted rookie defensive end Braiden McGregor all are health scratches.

New York will be without two starting cornerbacks due to injury. Slot corner Michael Carter II is unavailable for the second week in a row due to a back problem. He was ruled out on Friday .

Boundary cornerback DJ Reed, who tweaked his groin against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, is out after not practicing all week. Reed also missed the Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans due to knee soreness.

Backup cornerback Brandin Echols and versatile defensive back Isaiah Oliver will see a lot of action on Sunday night as injury replacements.

All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams is active, set to make his Jets' debut in Pittsburgh. Veteran wide receiver Mike Williams, who has been the subject of trade rumors since Adams arrived on the scene, is up for the primetime affair after a tumultuous week. Williams did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to personal reasons.
