AP Top 25 Poll Rankings Week 9: Alabama, Texas sustain a mighty fall

The AP Top 25 Poll released its top 25 teams for Week 9, and things are not looking good for Alabama and Texas. The two teams that started on the top of the ladder are now having their mighty fall.

Texas, the No.1 team in Weeks 7 and 8, is now at No. 5 in Week 9 thanks to its upsetting 15-30 loss against Georgia .

Alabama ranked No. 1 in week 6, and No. 7 in Weeks 7 and 8, had an even more embarrassing fall than Texas as it sits at No. 15 in Week 9.

Texas was the chosen team with all the odds in their favor when walking into the DKR Stadium. Kirby Smart didn't take much time to remind them who was the top dog with their 23-0 lead walking into the halftime.

Alabama's drop was long anticipated ever since their performance went downhill after their loss to Vanderbilt. They luckily survived against South Carolina but succumbed to the same fate in a 24-17 loss against Tennessee.

Oregon now leads the board at No.1 after its spectacular 35-0 win against Purdue, followed by Georgia, Penn State, and Ohio State.

    Here is the complete list:

    1. Oregon
    2. Georgia
    3. Penn State
    4. Ohio State
    5. Texas
    6. Miami

US LBM Coaches' poll has similar results

Oregon also leads the US LBM Coaches' Poll for Week 9, with Georgia, Penn State, and Ohio State following it.

The Longhorns, however, have sustained an even bigger fall on this board, as they ranked No. 6 here. Alabama, on the other hand, was at No. 15, the same as the AP poll.

    Here is the complete list:

    1. Oregon (51)
    2. Georgia (2)
    3. Penn State
    4. Ohio State
    5. Miami
    6. Texas
    7. LSU

    20. Pitt
    21. Illinois
    22. SMU

Hardly anyone expected the once-top teams of the list to fall mid-season. It will only be a more thrilling ride ahead.
