Packers predicted to replace disappointing $5 million starter with Super Bowl champ

The Green Bay Packers are having an excellent season as a team, but that doesn't mean it's going well for each of their players individually.

The NFL is a bottom-line business, and it doesn't matter how high a team drafted a player or how much they once believed in him. If that player isn't producing, they'll find his replacement quickly, and that may be the case for one Packers lineman in particular.

Center Josh Myers, who the Packers drafted in the second round in 2021, has never lived up to the promise he showed as a star at Ohio State. The 26-year-old is a free agent at the end of this season, and the odds seem to be shrinking that the Packers will bring him back.

That creates a hole on the Green Bay line, and predictions are already flowing in regarding who might step up to fill it. Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department predicted that Carolina Panthers center Austin Corbett will usurp Myers as the Packers' center in 2025.

"While Corbett is a natural guard, he moved to center this season after Carolina brought in high-priced free agents Damian Lewis and Robert Hunt," the authors said. "Granted, the 28-year-old who turns 29 in December did suffer a season-ending biceps injury, so this pairing will depend on how his medicals check out."

Corbett won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 before signing with the Panthers as a free agent the following season. He was having a great season with eight total points saved in five games prior to suffering the aforementioned biceps injury.

Replacing Myers with the more experienced, more productive Corbett could be the key to a Packers Super Bowl run in 2025. The clock has yet to run out on this season, but the Packers window is only growing wider as time goes along.
