Malik Willis thriving with Packers shows how incompetent Titans are

When Malik Willis had his opportunities with the Tennessee Titans , he looked like he didn't know how to play football anymore. Now, Willis is thriving with the Green Bay Packers and that only makes the Titans look worse.

Willis has started two games this season for the Packers in place of an injured Jordan Love, and the Packers have won each of them. In those games, Willis hasn't exactly lit the world on fire, but he has played good, competent football.

The Liberty product's numbers were impressive in those starts. In all, he completed 25-of-33 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 12 carries for another 114 yards.

Imagine allowing Willis to use his legs — what a novel idea. It would seem like a simple concept, but it was anything but simple for former head coach Mike Vrabel and Co., who used to scold Willis when he'd take off and run.

The former Titans third-round pick got yet another opportunity in Week 8, when Love suffered a groin injury.

Willis was thrust into the game and not only led the Packers on a touchdown drive, he also pulled off a game-winning drive powered by his 51-yard connection to wide receiver Jayden Reed. Kicker Brandon McManus took care of the rest.

Willis finished 4-of-5 for 56 yards and the touchdown, and added another 23 yards on the ground.

No matter who is the head coach or on the coaching staff, the Titans have been awful at developing quarterbacks over the years. Willis appears to be yet another example of this, as he never showed half this level of competence in Tennessee.

And it has to make you wonder if quarterback Will Levis is really the problem, or if the Titans just have the wrong coaches to bring him along yet again. Of course, it could be a little bit of both.

But it isn't just about the development, because play-calling is also a huge factor. The Packers have been allowing Willis to play to his strengths, and it's clearly paying off and giving him confidence.

At this point, it wouldn't be at all shocking to see Levis strike out in Tennessee and then go succeed elsewhere. If Willis can climb out of the kind of depths of despair he was in during his time with the Titans, anyone can.

Willis was a total class act through and through, no matter how bad things were going in Tennessee. We couldn't be happier for him, and we couldn't be more frustrated with the Titans.
