Yes, any medal is nice, but being the absolute best means coming in first and standing at the very top of the podium. So then, let’s start there. After a very sluggish and rough start; this weekend American athletes finally got over the hump; and started really mining for gold. It took all the way till day nine of the Paris Olympics, but the USA now ties China with 19 gold medals. China also has 15 silvers and 11 bronze.

Moreover, the home country, France, has also been on fire. French athletes have accumulated 12 gold medals, 14 silvers and 18 bronze medals thus far. A very impressive home showing.

There are athletes from the territories of 206 National Olympic Committees as well as the IOC Refugee Olympic Team (EOR) that are taking part of the Olympic Paris Games.
